# How to apply for data return

Follow the instructions for the biobanks related to data returns at FinnGen [Sharepoint](https://tt.eduuni.fi/sites/hy-finngen/All/_layouts/15/WopiFrame.aspx?sourcedoc={1DEF93A2-CA82-4B2D-AAA1-3FAEF49B3533}\&file=Finngen%20instructions%20for%20biobank%20data%20return.docx\&action=default). For access to Sharepoint, please contact <finngen-servicedesk@helsinki.fi>.

Data becomes available for return after a one-year embargo following the initial release. FinnGen will save returned data for 3 months, after which it will no longer be available for download.
