# The 1-year “Exclusivity Period” Policy

According to the FinnGen Consortium Agreement, FinnGen analysis results are subjected to a one year embargo or “**exclusivity period**,” and only after that can be made available to the larger scientific community.

The **exclusivity period is defined as the period of 12 months after each published Data Freeze**.

**During the one-year embargo period, the analysis results are available only to FinnGen Partner organizations.**

These analysis results may be published as a part of a manuscript / abstract / poster, but the FinnGen Scientific Committee must first approve the release of these results, following similar practices as the [Citing FinnGen](https://docs.finngen.fi/publishing-finngen-results/how-to-site-finngen) page.
