# How to reset your finngen.fi account password

**Please note that with the following instructions your account recovery may take from a few hours to several days. If you are in a hurry, please contact <finngen-servicedesk@helsinki.fi>**&#x200B;

**Step 1:** Go to link:​ <https://accounts.google.com/signin/v2/recoveryidentifier?flowName=GlifWebSignIn&flowEntry=AccountRecovery>

**Step 2:** Type your finngen.fi account name in the box:

**Step 3:**\
Type in your password, or any string if you do not remember it (identity confirmation will be done in the following steps).

Confirm your identity with your 2FA method (if you cannot access 2FA, see [here](/faq/about-finngen-access-and-accounts/cant-access-your-smartphone-for-2fa.md)).

**Step 5:**\
Confirm you have received a code from Google on your device.

**Step 6:**\
After typing in the code in Step 5, the next page will let you know when to expect an account reactivation link from Google to your email (remember to check also your spam folder). When received, you can create a new strong password (at least 8 characters long) for your account.
